Noon By Noor Spring 2014 Collection Review - Blooming Beauties

By Laura Cochran Nay

Lincoln Center was all a buzz after the Noon by Noor runway show by fashionistas and media alike. The cousin designers, Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya drew inspiration from their home of Bahrain for this collection. Inspired by The Tree of Life, a natural wonder for its age, beauty and endurance. The Tree of Life is a mystery due to its survival in the barren desert with no known source of water. The designers looked to the natural beauty in the world incorporating botanical elements into their Spring 2014 collection.

Ladylike peplum and midi length pencil skirts showed off a more
 serious side of the designers
Staying true to their previous two collections shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Noon by Noor showed their playful and young side as they opened the show to the summer’s hottest song, “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. Flirty and lively printed separates showed a younger side to this collection known to be loved by front row maven, Solange Knowles. The designers’ ability to mix colors, patterns, and fabrics keeps it contemporary enough for young it girls while wearing the pieces separately will certainly give it some extra longitude for the workplace. They offset the vibrant colors like tangerine and blush with lilac and plum to balance the collection. Funky oversized palm prints in crop tops and jumpsuits gave reference to the Tree of Life.

Playful palm prints in crop tops and separates were all the rage

The collection exuded elegance and femininity with embellished silks and chiffon rosette appliqués. The attention to detail was overwhelming in person. Lace mixed with leather added even more luxury to the collection creating the perfect balance of sporty and sophistication.
Embellishments and chiffon rosettes in bold colors like tangerine
 and navy ended the show

Noon by Noor took everyone by surprise when they delved into eveningwear with a show-stopping gown fit for a ball. Covered in chiffon rosettes of ivory and navy, this two–piece gown created a frenzy of camera flashes. Referencing their playful side once again, their ball gown was trendy enough with a cropped top. The hair and makeup was pristine and ladylike with perfect waves topped off with fresh faces.

This Spring 2014 collection by Noon by Noor is sure to continue the designer duo’s catapult to stardom.  It struck the perfect balance of timeless chic and trendy must haves that will be seen all over come this spring.
